Trade Union Congress demands voting arrangements for migrant workers



Kathmandu. Nepal Trade Union Congress has demanded that the workers in the country and abroad should be arranged to vote from the workplace in the upcoming elections.

On Monday, the Trade Union Congress submitted a memorandum to Acting Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari and put forward a four-point demand.

[5:29 pm, 17/11/2025] Youbraj: President Yogendra Kunwar informed that a memorandum has been submitted with the demands of the youth and farm laborers in accordance with the provision in Article 42(1) of the Constitution, that a separate cluster should be formed for representation in the state parliament and other bodies on the basis of the principle of proportionality, that the upcoming elections should be frugal and elections should be held on a specified date.

On that occasion, Acting Election Commissioner Bhandari said that the Commission will carry out the work of the election process within the scope of the Constitution, Acts, Laws and Regulations.

Kunwar, the president of the federation, said that it has been his long-standing issue that there should be a provision for voting for workers in the country and abroad, and that workers should be included in the same way as other classes are included in the cluster according to the basic tenets of the constitution.

On that occasion, while reading the memorandum of the federation, General Secretary Ajay Kumar Rai said that the commission should address the issues raised by the federation to transform the country economically, socially and politically in order to make the country prosperous as desired by the parties.

Former President of the Federation and General Secretary of SAARC Ted Union Laxman Basnet, Senior Vice President Tejendra Jung Karki, Vice President Ganesh KC, Deputy General Secretary Baldev Tamang and Sushila Ghimire participated in the team led by President Kunwar.
