NAIMA President Calls for Priority to Automobile and Mobility Sector

Kathmandu: Ritu Singh Vaidya, President of the Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA), has emphasized the importance of the automobile and mobility sector as a key pillar for Nepal’s economic prosperity. She urged the government to prioritize this sector in national policies and planning.

Speaking at the inauguration of the NAIMA Mobility Expo 2025 held at Bhrikutimandap on Wednesday, Vaidya highlighted that the automobile sector contributes to around 4.7% of total employment in the country, directly and indirectly providing jobs to thousands of Nepalis.

She also noted the growing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), which is creating new opportunities in areas such as charging infrastructure, technical training, and employment. NAIMA, in collaboration with CTEVT and the Ministry of Education, is investing in skill development to make Nepali youth more employable in the evolving mobility industry.

The expo, which will run until August 10 (Shrawan 25), features over 50 stalls representing more than 47 national and international brands. The event showcases new models of two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and commercial vehicles.

The expo venue has been equipped with accessible facilities for differently-abled individuals, security arrangements, and emergency services to ensure a smooth experience for visitors.

The event was officially inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel. According to the organizers, this year’s expo aims to send a strong message about the potential and future of electric mobility in Nepal.
