Doha – Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal and Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani held a meeting in Qatar to discuss ways to boost economic cooperation between Nepal and Qatar.
The two sides agreed to hold the next meeting of the Nepal-Qatar Joint Business Council (JBC) in Kathmandu. Dhakal said the JBC has become a vital platform for promoting bilateral trade and investment, stressing the need to finalise the membership list to make it more effective.
Inviting Qatari investors to explore opportunities in Nepal, Dhakal highlighted sectors such as hydropower, solar energy, information technology, fintech, and agro-based industries. He also emphasised FNCCI’s digital transformation initiatives and proposed collaboration with the Qatar Chamber on AI-based business tools, blockchain trade documentation, and digital platforms for investment promotion.
Chairman Al Thani expressed commitment to strengthening the JBC mechanism and to deepening Nepal-Qatar economic ties through continued dialogue and cooperation.
Dhakal also extended an invitation to the Qatar Chamber and Qatari business community to participate in the Nepal International Economic Summit (NIES), scheduled for February next year in Kathmandu. The summit will feature a special “Qatar-focused investment session.”
He further stressed the potential of increasing access for Nepali products—including tea, coffee, cardamom, herbs, and processed foods—to the Qatari market, proposing collaboration on certification, standardisation, and joint branding.
High-ranking officials and business leaders from Qatar Chamber, led by Chairman Al Thani, attended the meeting.
